How to love myself more

Loving Myself More: A Spiritual Path Beyond Anxiety to living in Love, power & Joy

Loving myself has been a journey! I have at some point been in extreme anxiety, shrinking to fit in and at very low vibrational energy.

Living this way takes off your self-power, love, joy, wisdom and prosperity. It lowers the brightness of your light to the world, your expression of self is diminished and in the world cases, could lead to an early death.

Reorienting your life towards high levels of being, towards courage, love, peace and transcendence is more a spiritual journey than anything else. This article explores the spiritual path to love yourself more, calming anxiety to peace and transforming depression to joy!

Loving Myself Feels Hard

There are moments when loving yourself feels impossible. I have had moments when I did not understand how to love myself.
Anxiety races through your mind, whispering that you’re not enough, you are not worthy, you do not deserve what you desire, and such more.
Depression weighs on your heart, convincing you that nothing will ever change.

In those quiet, heavy moments, it’s easy to forget the truth: you are not broken.
You are a spirit having a human experience — learning, growing, and remembering your wholeness.

The path of self-love is not about fixing yourself; it’s about coming home to the divine light that has always lived within you. When we approach healing spiritually, we realize that even our pain can be a sacred teacher leading us back to love.

Seeing Anxiety and Depression Through a Spiritual Lens

Anxiety and depression are often seen as purely mental or emotional struggles, but at their root, they also reflect a disconnection from spirit — from our true selves and the Source that gives us peace.

  • Anxiety is the soul’s cry when the mind tries to control what is beyond its reach.
  • Depression is the heart’s whisper when meaning feels lost and the inner light feels dim.

From a spiritual perspective, both are invitations — gentle nudges from the universe calling us to slow down, listen within, and realign.

Choosing Love Over Fear

Every healing journey begins with a choice — to believe that love is more powerful than fear.
When anxiety or depression speaks, love whispers: You are safe. You are guided. You are loved.

Begin to notice the voice of love within you. Speak to yourself with kindness, even when you stumble.

Try this short reflection:

“What would Love say to me right now if I could hear its voice?”

Let that voice answer — softly, truthfully. It will never condemn you. It will remind you that you are worthy, even in the middle of the storm.

As Psalm 46:10 reminds us, “Be still and know that I am God.” In stillness, we remember that peace is not something we chase; it is something we return to.

Spiritual Practices That Help You Heal

Healing spiritually doesn’t mean avoiding professional support — it means bringing divine light into every part of your journey.
Here are simple, powerful ways to start loving yourself more every day:

  1. Stillness and Prayer – Begin each morning with a few minutes of silence. Place your hand over your heart and say, “I invite peace to dwell here.”
  2. Affirm Divine Love – Speak loving truth into your atmosphere:

“I am loved. I am safe. I am guided. I am enough.”

  1. Reconnect with Your Body – Walk barefoot on the earth. Breathe deeply. Stretch. Let your body remember what peace feels like.
  2. Express and Release – Journal your emotions without judgment. Let them move through you and back into the flow of life.
  3. Find Spiritual Community – Healing grows in loving spaces. Join others walking the path of awareness and grace — like The Self Love Platform’s Spirituality & You Wednesdays or Self Leadership Saturdays.

Coming Home to Yourself

The spiritual journey of loving yourself more is not about becoming someone new; it’s about remembering who you are — a divine creation of light, love, and purpose.

Anxiety and depression lose their power when you anchor yourself in truth:
You are not your thoughts. You are not your pain.
You are the consciousness observing them — infinite, radiant, whole.

When you treat yourself as sacred, everything within begins to heal.
And as you return to love, you don’t just survive…
You shine.
